| Frokost - Bedroom Recordings (2003-) | |
|---|---|
Mikkel generously redecorated his livingroom into a top-notch recording facility for private use. Now it's possible to be in a band without even seeing the other guys. Recordings on this page are done entirely by Mikkel, Thomas and Tue in any of the seven possible combinations. If you want to hear older stuff from 1994-2001, go to the vault on your own risk. |

About |
| Academy |
A rare instrumental. Although ever so slightly guitar-dominated, you might be able to percept two of Mikkel's saxophones as well. (3.0 MB) |
| Assrock |
Long ago Thomas came up with this jolly super riff. Impressed and eager to participate, Mikkel and Tue managed to turn a good idea into complete assrock. (2.9 MB) |
| City Groove |
To the collection of songs with a focus on moving bodies we add this little diddy about dancing, white leather shoes and Elvis' drugs. The song is a joint effort by all three members of the band and has been a work-in-progress for quite a while now. (2.2 MB) |
| Dancehall King |
It started as an attempt to re-record "Breakfast with Double-O" (find it in The Vault). This failed however, and we decided to work on it as if it was a completely new song. Listen carefully and you'll notice that the baseline is kept more or less intact. Agnete is once again backing vocal. (3.8 MB) |
| Daniels dream |
Actually a song from the late nineties, but we always had trouble playing it live, and so we didn't record it back then. Technology saved us in the new Millennium. (2.7 MB) |
| Don't Wake Me Up |
Songs longer than 2 minutes seem impossible for us to finish. We discovered to our horror that we began working on this song in autumn 2004. That's nearly 2 years, people. We are in shock. (4.5 MB) |
| Explosions In The Guy |
A longer song than usual. But apart from that, everything seems to be right down our alley. (5.4 MB) |
| Film Night |
Film Night is a flippin fast song. And it features Agnete in front. And it's the first since "The sound of my wooden chest". No more F's (file under Frokost). (3.2 MB) |
| Go boy go |
This thing has been quite unusual. Everything was ready - form and lyrics - before we even started recording it. Luxury. And here's the beauty of it: intro-A-B-A-B-A-B-C-A-B, mumbling words, the occasional pitchguitar. What's not to love? (4.0 MB) |
| Hanging Out With The In-crowd |
Do you wanna be part of the in-crowd? Well, do ya, punk? (2.5 MB) |
| Here Come The Swim Stars |
First song to appear after a long summer holiday. Tue is trying hard to control Mikkels biggest guitar. (2.0 MB) |
| Hey Speedo |
Sometimes inaudible lyrics can be an advantage. The mishearings turn out better than the original words. No matter what you might hear in this song, it's bound to be an improvement. (2.4 MB) |
| I Let It Be |
This could easily have been one of those songs that would take us forever to finish, but to our big surprise it has only been under its way for a few weeks. These are sad words on happy tunes. How original (we like it). (3.7 MB) |
| I like the way you are |
This little piece somehow, and completely out of nowhere, evolved into a 60's-inspired song. We would like to emphasize the fading part in the end. Wock'n'woll. (4.0 MB) |
| I'm a monkey |
Following a straight A-B-A-B-C pattern we suddenly found ourselves with a song longer than the normal 2½ minute. Mikkel endured hours upon hours of trial-and-error-singing, before settling on this version. "Why...must...life...be...so...hard?" A song about a situation we know all too well. So hail to the chimp. (6.1 MB) |
| Introducing The Disappointments |
This guy plays the steel guitar in a sad band. Only comfort is the occasional beautiful girl in the audience. And not even THAT is enough to get his lazy ass off the seat. We later found out that several bands called The Disappointments actually exist - no pun intended. (3.5 MB) |
| Lonely town |
Finally a chance for Mikkel to give it a shot with his new saxophones, trombones and whatnots, while Tue is stuck, trying to work them old-fashioned guitars. Same as it ever was. Tora and Agnete back us up on choir here. Thank you very much. (4.5 MB) |
| Metal eyes |
After years of examining extra-terrestrial musical instruments, Mikkel picked up his old guitar again. Thomas plays bastard drums. (3.2 MB) |
| Mother says |
Nearly broke the band again (as does every other song), pulling the trinity in two different directions. Thomas lost the battle although he came up with the idea. Life's really hard. This little puppy can ruin your ears. (2.5 MB) |
| New job |
Maybe this one has fewer guitar layers than usual, but they've just been replaced with synth layers so no worries. We are layer guys. (4.4 MB) |
| Noise |
This song - along with Metal Eyes - convinced Tue that he had to play music again with these guys. Thomas provided the song with a catchy base-line and occassional background vocals (a rare treat). Friend Rasmus still can't control his feet to this tune. (3.8 MB) |
| Nowhere fast |
Like Daniels Dream, this is an old song from the late nineties, that sounded pretty harsh in our rehearsal takes back then. This is a complete rerecording with new parts and some new ideas, but we have tried to maintain the original goofy style. (1.8 MB) |
| Old Town Tokyo |
With the lyrics very quickly in place, we had "no-sweat"-expectations to this songs. And of course we ended up spending nearly three months on the bastard. It's a song about...somebody... wishing he was ... somewhere else.. but then again not. File under: darn deep. (4.2 MB) |
| On the brink |
Somewhat cheerful. Kinda upbeat. And ever so slightly skewed. Listen closely for Mikkel on his new clarinet (we deleted his trombone). (2.7 MB) |
| Roughdancing Boy |
A tough and true story about a disco misery. You shouldn't be dancing. (1.9 MB) |
| Scary bitch |
Another tough and true story about a disco misery. This song is a rare one-night achievement. Tue plays and sings, and Mikkel performs Mr. Wizard-tricks on the sound afterwards and adds a cool guitarsolo (grateful shades of Quine). (1.8 MB) |
| Some Days Are Better Than Others |
Maybe not our most uplifting song, but still optimistic towards the end. He who laughs last and all that. (2.6 MB) |
| Summer Nights |
We guess everybody will agree that summers always end too soon. And this is ... a song about it. (4.4 MB) |
| Sunshine Makes A Better Day |
Half a year ago this song was ment to be a quick-and-dirty take on Mikkels new amplifier. However, completing it turned out to be an overwhelming task for us. We are proud to announce that - finally - we're through with it AND we like the result. Thanks go to girlstar Agnete for joining Mikkel at the microphone. (5.8 MB) |
| Sunshine makes a better day 2'nd version |
Second version (5.2 MB) |
| Take your sorry ass to the movies |
This was recorded in February - a cold and dark month. That would explain a thing or two. (3.7 MB) |
| The Spot Where You Are |
Hey Jude, take a sad song, make it better... and then add the unfulfilled lovestory between a mosquito and a woman. (Remember to let it into your heart.) (2.5 MB) |
| The Wooden Chest |
The sound of heartbeats and a wooden chest?? 75 second is all it takes to find out. (1.7 MB) |
| Too Full Of Potential |
This song is the first to showcase Mikkel's new trumpet and western guitar. It's not the first to have a quirky choir, though. (5.0 MB) |
| Walking On Slow Bones |
A fragile song about friendship with start/stop-dynamics. Guitar enough for ya? (2.4 MB) |
| Words can really hurt me |
Back in the days of Njord this started as a JJ Cale inspired riff. And now - in the days of so much later - it ended up like something completely different. Agnete is once again backing Mikkel up by the microphone. (3.9 MB) |
| You are better off with you and me |
Is it so hard to see? You're better off with you and me. (4.0 MB) |
| Youth is wasted on the young |
Guitars, the occasional corny sound effect, marimbas and of course more cowbell. Everything the doctor ordered. Enjoy. (3.2 MB) |
